Wow, you've perfectly articulated what I've felt for a long time. When "Have Mercy" came out, I enjoyed it but also felt a pang of "This is more of the same." I blame the time we're in and the setup of the music industry. Black women simply don't get the same traction or push that white women do when they explore other non-sexually explicit avenues. A damn shame, really.
