This was such a sweet story!

“Continue straight for forty-five years,” said the weight of all his obligations. What if he wanted to turn right? There was no carefully unfolded chart full of options, possibilities, and the road less traveled. No, he had to follow the voice counting down the distance to its next dictatorial direction. Veering off the path fed to him one instruction at a time meant heading into here be dragons territory.
