This is my first time reading this series and I'm an idiot who managed to start at Chapter Nine. Even at chapter 9, though, it feels self-contained. I thoroughly enjoyed this and felt that I could empathize with the protagonist and her daughter who's not even in this scene. This was so well-done. I promise I will start from the beginning next time.
