I’ve watched this twice in cinema now which is a rarity for me. I agree with you about the pheasant metaphor - it felt like they were spoon feeding the audience. The scene that was most impactful to me was the soldier game with her sons. The fact that it was largely improvised is brilliant. All of her interactions with William were really interesting to me because they depicted the character’s devotion to her sons but also the undue emotional burden that her problems placed on them. When Will was pleading with her to leave the bathroom…oof. Great review, Simon!
